Poems by Bharat Prasad 'Bhushan'
An Old Man
An old man's nothing but clown,
Hope destroyed like a bereaved fawn,
In freezing evening sitting by the fire,
Smouldering within the tune of a lyre.
Deserted, castingated and looks downcast,
Brooding over how time is fast.
Like a scarecrow and no one around,
Groping in the dark nothing's is found.
Memories come from the shadows of past,
Plight of old man nothing at last.
All treasure, all learning gives its way,
Sans of all nothing's to pay.
Experience and wisdom so far as gathered,
All is gone and all is withered.
Once stout frame now looks too frail,
Long is the way to tread on trail.
Is it life in death or death in life?
Or is it a boon or strife?
Life is that what we take,
Make it real or make it fake.
Oh! It is the means of liberation from the pent house,
Deeds justify the end either for gain or loss.
No, it is an on and on going river,
To mingle with the ultimate truth nothing to shiver.

I Have Still to Tell
All fordone and all forgot,
Soon, memories flash upon my thought.
When I retrospect my past,
Her fragrance comes to me fast.
Whenever occurred a tiff between her and me,
I threatened her,"what do you see?"
I shall earlier leave thee,
She flatly scoffed at me.
Smilingly she stood apart.
And began to play woman's part.
" You will always scold, said she, you always chide,
Remember! I will desert you as a bride."
But that is not all to conceal,
A mystery I have to reveal.
Let me fanciful illusion dispel,
I have something still to tell.
I was charmed and out of self,
Now I have come to my sole self.
No longer fancy could cheat me itself,
Fair is even more than a deceiving elf.
Once a favourite haunt for the second fawn,
Who used to cling is lastly gone.
Farewell! Farewell! Adieu! Adieu!
